The mount is part of the job
Mounts hold the engine and the gearbox and isolate vibration. With the engine out, they are a short job. With the engine in, they are an awkward one. If they are split, collapsed or oil-soaked, replace them before the new engine goes in.
Bavarian Engines Store sells the engine in the photos. Mounts are not inside that price unless a listing says so.
Signs they are finished
A thud on take-up, a shake at idle that used to be smooth, a mount that has sagged so the engine sits low, or rubber that has separated from the metal. Hydraulic mounts leak. A wet mount is a failed mount.
Do not confuse a dual-mass flywheel rattle with a mount. Press the clutch. If the noise changes, look at the flywheel first.
Which ones
There is usually a pair of engine mounts and at least one gearbox mount. xDrive and automatic cars can have extra brackets. Match them to the chassis, not to a photo of a different generation.
A diesel and a petrol of the same body can use different mounts. Use the chassis and the engine code when you order any.
Fitting
Support the engine. Do not undo both mounts and the gearbox mount together without a support. Torque them with the engine sitting at its real ride height, or they tear at an angle.
A new engine on collapsed mounts will look harsh and can strain hoses and the exhaust. That is not an internal engine fault.
Ordering
Inspect the old mounts while the engine is still in, and order the new ones so they arrive with the engine. Tell us the chassis if you ask us to help identify them.
The engine warranty does not cover a vibration caused by a mount you reused.
Warranty
Many engines come with up to 12 months warranty. A proper workshop must fit the engine. The warranty is for a fault inside the engine. It does not cover the wrong engine, a dry start, the wrong oil, or damage done after you open the crate.
Shipping
Crate shipping from Hamburg costs 299 EUR. We pack the engine in a strong crate and send it to the address on your order. You need a forklift or an engine crane to unload it.

Are mounts included?
No, unless the listing says so.
Should I replace them every time?
Replace them if they are split, leaked or collapsed. With the engine out, that is the cheap moment.
Can a bad mount damage the engine?
It can strain pipes and make a good engine feel wrong. It is not an internal failure.
